Out the Window River Conditions

Illinois River report 1/30/12 

Illinois River: Saugers still being caught deep 15-20ft in holding areas such as: under bridges at Spring Valley, IL shipping port bridge, Rt 39, and the railroad bridge in LaSalle area. Most anglers catching fish on 3way rigs or river rigs with floaters tipped with minnows best colors are orange, yellow, pink, and blue. Angler using jigs fished vertically in 3/8 & 1/4 oz. Also tipped with minnows catching fish. Most of the sauger still running small 11-15 in with some larger walleyes mixed in mostly on shallowest side of deep areas.

White Bass, Carp, Drum, Crappie & Bass: Slowing down with colder temp. Some fish caught around wood structure during middway hours. Jigs with minnow, and Blade bait best.

Lake Evergreen: Crappie and Saueyes still being caught over deep brush piles 12-15ft with slip bobbers with minnows and small jig flippers with minnows or night crawlers.

Hennepin Canal: Crappie fish of choice with better catches coming during stable weather days.
